Boise State QB Hank Buckmeyer is on the move after the Broncos fired their offensive coordinator.

Boise State quarterback Hank Bahamier entered the transfer portal, and the veteran signal-caller was confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday. It was one of the worst performances for the program since it jumped to the FBS level in 1996.

During his four-year career, Bachmayr started 29 games, threw for over 6,600 yards and scored 41 touchdowns. He cleared his 3,000-yard passing mark as a junior while completing his 63% of his passes. However, things took a turn for the worse in his first four games of the 2022 season, with Bachmayr completing a career-low 54% of his passes for less than his 500 yards.

“I had a lot of fun at Boise State and I feel like I gave everything I had,” Buckmeyer told ESPN. “I appreciate it very much.”

Bachmeyer said he wanted to find a school that would prepare him for the NFL and help him win games quickly. As the sixth quarterback recruit in the nation in 2019, Bachmeyer includes Georgia, Tennessee and Colorado He had a long list of suitors. He also considered Cal, Minnesota, and UCLA during the process.

By making the move now, Bachmayer is eligible to have the 2022 season credited as a redshirt year, with two years remaining to qualify for his next move. Didn’t even use the Covid exceptions they did. Redshirt freshman quarterback Tyren Green is the next guy on the depth chart. The Louisville, Texas native made his 19 of 28 passes for 155 yards in a Week 1 loss to Oregon State.

With Prow out, Boise State will have former NFL and Boise State coach Dirk Ketter on offense. A native of Idaho, Ketterer worked as an offensive analyst for the Broncos. His son, Davis Ketterer, is the team’s wide receiver.

wasted possibility

Backmeyer was a game-changing recruit when he joined Brian Hershin’s program in 2019. A native of Murrieta, California, he was ranked as the No. 6 Pro Style his quarterback and No. 235 recruit in his class, making him the best quarterback and his second. – the best recruit in the history of Boise.

He showed great ability in his first season, throwing for 407 yards in a win over Florida State and starting eight games before an injury cut his season short. Bach Meyer and his 1,000-yard running back George Horani, who led the Broncos to his 12-2 season, looked like Boise State’s next great duo.

However, despite Bachmeier’s steady performance, it started to go downhill at Boise State. The Broncos have allowed him two or more sacks per game in each of the last two seasons, and Bachmayr was frequently injured because of it. His 7-5 campaign last season ranked with the program’s worst winning percentage since 1998.

Bachmayor has another shot at rewriting the college legacy elsewhere, as it is unlikely to be settled in Boise.

disappointing tenure

The 37-year-old Plov was hired by Boise State to revamp its offense after an impressive stint under Dan Hawkins at the University of California, Davis. He was named 35-under-35 in 2019 by the American Football Coaches Association after leading the Aggies to his third consecutive top-10 pass in his offense. However, his attack fell through during his two years at Boise State.

A loss to UTEP dropped Boise State to 121st in total offense with just 283.2 yards per game and 4.4 yards per play. The pass offense averages 15 more yards per game than an army that runs a triple option.

Boise State’s offense began to go wrong late in the Hersin era, but Plough’s struggles stood out. As an FCS Rank Offensive Coordinator, he’s arguably still a popular name, but he may have to work hard to return to the FBS Rank.

Avalos’ Critical Divergence

The change is an important moment for second-year coach Andy Avalos, who has a 9-7 record in two seasons. The former Boise State linebacker was hired in Oregon as Mario Cristobal’s defensive coordinator with a two-year vacancy after a long stint with the Broncos under Chris Petersen and Brian Hershin.

Avalos is only in his second year, but has lost 16 games (7), about the same number that Petersen has lost in eight seasons (12). Boise State Sports Director Jeremiah His Dickie is highly regarded in the industry. However, if the situation does not improve, he may have to make difficult decisions for the program.

The Broncos are 2-2 for the second season in a row. Prior to Avalos’ tenure, Boise State had not started a 2-2 season since 2017.
