College football picks, schedule: predictions for spreads, odds for the top 25 games in week 5

With a third of the 2022 season in the books and college football rankings overall more normalized, Week 5 will see a number of top 25 finishes impacting individual conferences and the college football playoff landscape. Matchups are provided. Even better, these showdowns are scattered throughout Saturday’s schedule, allowing fans to watch as many shows as possible throughout his day.

In fact, there are five games between ranked opponents that day, and two such contests each between SEC and ACC opponents. According to the Caesars Sportsbook, No. 14 Ole Miss hosts No. 7 Kentucky as his favorite, but No. 2 Alabama is No. 20 Arkansas where he has 17 points. No. 23 Florida State Wakes No. 22 He wants to remain undefeated in his tilt home against Forrest. Then No. 5 Clemson and his No. 10 North Carolina State will go head-to-head in the primetime showcase as the undefeated Top 10. The undefeated No. 16 Baylor is looking to return to the top of the Big 12 races when he hosts No. 9 Oklahoma State.

By the time Saturday’s action concludes, the top 25 will look markedly different and could even see significant changes to the CFP forecast. (On Sunday, Hurricane He had to postpone kickoff due to Ian.) Sunshine State, featuring his team, has two games scheduled, both featuring ranked programs. I have not.)

No. 4 Michigan vs. Iowa

Featured games | | Iowa Hawkeyes vs Michigan Wolverines

noon | fox, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – When these teams met in last December’s Big Ten Championship Game, Michigan beat Iowa outright, 42-3. The judges are out on whether the Wolverines are as good as they were last season, but Iowa seems to be falling behind, with the Hawkeyes scoring just four offensive touchdowns in four games. I have not. Michigan beat Maryland last week in a 34-27 win where he gave up four touchdowns on his drives of 70+ yards, but the Terrapins have far better offensive equipment than Iowa. . Even if the Hawkeyes succeed in slowing Michigan’s offense, it’s hard to see them reach double digits without some ridiculous turnover luck. need to do it. Forecast: Michigan -10.5 — David Cobb

No. 7 Kentucky at No. 14 Ole Miss

Featured games | | Ole Miss Rebels vs. Kentucky Wildcats

noon | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Rebels are very popular heading into matchups despite their low ranking. But don’t count wildcats. Kentucky boasts a significant defensive advantage, along with more experience in the quarterback position.Rain’s Kiffin and Ole’s miss-the-miss offensive reputation under his coaches are well established. But Jackson his darts have not been tested against quality defense. That will change this week. Prediction: Kentucky +7 — Shehan Jeyaraja

No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 20 Arkansas

Featured games | | Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

3:30 p.m. | CBS,, CBS Sports AppPart of the reason Alabama didn’t do well in the expedition is that its offensive line isn’t up to the typical standards. Alabama’s offense this year hasn’t been as explosive in the passing game as it has been in years. A true alpha receiver does not exist. At least none took the reins from the good receivers Alabama had on its roster. Coupled with Arkansas dropping into coverage and teams being forced to put together long drives to beat it, this is a lower score than expected and suggests it will be a close match. I don’t have a high level of confidence, but if I’m betting anything here, I’d rather be with the Razorbacks. Prediction: Arkansas +17 — Tom Forneri

No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 16 Baylor

Featured games | | Baylor Bears vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

3:30 PM | Fox, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – Oklahoma State has won the last two regular-season matchups between these teams, but the Cowboys have not been tested in 2022 since defensive coordinator Jim Knowles lost to Ohio State. Hmm. The Bears have maintained his performance impressive defense and showed a real advantage in his game pass in the win over Iowa State. Home field advantage carries the day. Prediction: Baylor -2.5 — Shehan Jeyaraja

No. 10 NC State at No. 5 Clemson

Featured games | | Clemson Tigers vs. North Carolina Wolfpack

7:30 p.m. | ESPN, Hubo TV (Try it for free) – I’ll take Clemson straight, but give me NC State to grab a point on the road. Clemson won the fight on his line of scrimmage and would force Devin Leary to make a few mistakes to prevent this from becoming a shootout. Tigers running back Will Shipley takes over, preventing DJ Uiagalelei from making a difference for his second straight week. This drops to a final drive or two of him, and the Tigers hang on to keep their national championship hopes alive. Prediction: NC State +6.5 — Barret Sally
