Here’s a recap of the high school varsity team’s action starting Thursday, September 29th.
Gerstell 5, Beth Tifiloh 2: Travis Smith, Malcom Hoar, Riley Kilroy and Braedan Dillon each scored for Gerstell (6-0-1) to start MIAA C Conference play with a win. Davis Quenzer, Riley Kilroy and Samuel Oluemi added assists and Ryan Morrison notched his three saves.
Liberty 3, North Harford 0: Hannah Devincent, Maddie Retina and Rose Lerner scored to lead the Lions to victory. Devincent also recorded his 2 assists, while goaltenders Maddy Smith (4 saves) and Katy Broom (1 save) kept the shutout.
Longreach 7, Hammond 0: Alaina Norton and Reagan Burfind scored two goals each and goaltenders Cheyenne Hansen and Caitlin Rudy combined for a shutout to carry Longreach to victory. Grace Drashin, Naomi Islam and Kaitlyn Rudy also scored.
Astholton 3, Howard 2: Carly Marwitz, Keegan Williams and Macy Wayne each scored for the Raiders, while Wayne and Deneve Guy Williams also provided assists. Katie Wood finished with his 17 saves for Atholton. Sidney Rose scored his two goals for the Lions and Ainsley Glasgow made his 13 saves.
Oakland Mills 2, Centennial 1: Rebecca Fairbanks scored on a free kick for the Scorpions and Katie Brown also scored on a penalty kick.Paige Andrews made eight saves for the Oakland Mills.
River Hill 0, Mount Hebron 0, 2OT: The Vikings and Hawks were tied after a defensive battle between Howard County’s two top teams.
Manchester Valley 2, Century 0: Junior goaltender Megan Holdson had seven saves for the Knights.
Crow Lake 2, Patapsco 0: Freshman Kate Shantlow and sophomore Molly Frey scored to lead the Loch Ravens to victory.

Carver Center 3, Eastern 1
Perry Hall 3, Western Tech 0: Kiersten Chemelli had seven kills and three aces, while Gianna Scaccio added five kills to help the Gators win 25-16, 25-18, 25-17. Gigi Tilton recorded 4 kills, 1 block and 5 aces at Perry Hall.
Manchester Valley 3, Winters Mill 0: Emily Troy led Manchester Valley in kills and digs with 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 straight sets victories. Libby Burkhouse recorded his 20 assists and her three aces, and Emily McElwain added her three aces for the Mavericks. Avahall led Winter’s Mill with 5 kills and Nifemiola Linde added his 4 kills.
Liberty 3, Westminster 0: Sarah Hart had a team-leading 15 kills and lifted Liberty in straight sets 25-10, 25-11, 25-14. Paige Coulson (8 kills, 8 aces, 11 digs) and Jenna Liska (5 kills, 2 aces, 12 digs) also made big her game for the Lions.
South Carroll 169, Manchester Valley 169, Francis Scott Quay 238: Patrick Carr led South Carroll with a tied even par 36 at Oakmont Green. Parker Bopst led Manchester Valley with his 40s and McKenna Lanza led his FSK with 54.
North Harford 219, North East 229, Harford Tech 230: Lucas Parkes and Nick Cochrane led North Harford with 42 shots at Geneva Farm. Noah Wallace had a 34 for North East and Luke Cimino had a 42 for Harford Tech.
