Nine Autumn Celebrations Around Midtown Houston in October

HOUSTON, Texas – Although the summer heat continues, October is filled with fun fall events to kick off the new season. From chalk art and drawing to community building and group fitness classes, Midtown Houston has something for everyone (even puppies!). Check out these nine things to see and try in Midtown Houston this month.

Try the local artists making sidewalk art on the sidewalks around #midtownHOU. Watch unique art come to life before your eyes. Visit Bagby Park in Midtown and step into interactive 3D chalk art that will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into another dimension.

This month, artists will create FALL INSPIRED art and guests will also perform music and shop for some of the local vendors in the park while watching the art come to life. Enjoy food and drinks at La Calle Tacos in Bagby Park.

Join your community at National Night Out. Take part in the best crime-fighting tool ever invented – meet your neighbors, the officers, the leadership team who look after our community, board members and employees of Midtown Houston. Take home valuable information and free gifts!
Meet members of the Houston Police Department’s South Central Division, Houston Police Department’s Central Division, Metro Police Department, Harris County Police Department 7, Houston Community College Police Department, Houston Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team and SEAL Security Solutions.

There will be food and drinks from James Coney Island, sweets from Bakersman and sweets from Cake Pops. There will be many sellers offering swag.

Businesses in Midtown Houston are encouraged to participate. If you would like to set up a table, please contact Jaime Giraldo, Public Safety Coordinator. The deadline to apply for participation is on or before the close of business Tuesday 27 September.

About NATIONAL NIGHT OUT:

National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Neighborhoods across the country host parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, emergency personnel visits, and fairs.

Meet your neighbors and law enforcement officers who patrol Midtown Houston for coffee + pastries.

The purpose of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. In a short time, citizens and police officers get to know each other and discover common goals for the communities in which they live and serve. Community residents can sit with the officers and ask questions or share what’s on their mind.

There will be coffee, breakfast tacos and desserts.

Bagby Park is the perfect place to move! Superintendent Rose Jones will conduct a High Intensity Training (HIIT) class at 9:30 a.m. and a Yoga Flow class at 10:30 a.m. for all fitness levels, weather permitting. Roz Jones, Fit Lifestyle Innovator, is a dynamic and moving force of energy and enthusiasm. As a seasoned fitness professional, Roz classes build strength, flexibility, and endurance.

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM
Be prepared to burn calories and build character by combining cardiovascular training, strength training, functional flexibility, and music for a powerful 45-minute workout.
Equipment Needed: Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a mat and water; Resistance bands are optional.

Yoga Flow 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM
Movement, music, and mindfulness are the focus of this powerful Baptiste-inspired yoga flow that engages all of your muscles to increase movement and strength.
Equipment Needed: Attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a mat and water; Yoga straps and blocks are optional.
