After defeating Wisconsin State last week, the No. 3 Ohio Buckeyes will seek a second straight Big Ten win this weekend with Rutgers in Columbus, Ohio. As for Scarlett’s Knights, this doesn’t make things easier after dropping the conference opener against Iowa in Week 4.

The Buckeyes offense got off to a slow start in the season opener against Notre Dame, but has continued to gain momentum since. Dropping 52 points against Wisconsin’s tough defense over the weekend proved no fluke. Not only did receivers CJ Stroud and Buckeye broadcast it across the field, but the team bullied the Badgers on the ground for 258 yards.

That’s not good news for Rutgers, who won their first three games of the season before losing 27-10 to Iowa. Scarlett his Knights against FBS opponents he averages only 16 points per game. The Rutgers may have to take that chunk off against Ohio State before turning their attention to a few more winnable games against Nebraska and Indiana in the coming weeks.

Here’s how to catch all the action live on Saturday when Ohio will take on Rutgers.

3 players to watch

Myann Williams, Ohio State RB: Entering the 2022 season, Williams didn’t get as much attention as fellow running back Treveyon Henderson, but he turned this backfield into a two-headed monster. Williams leads the Buckeyes with 7.2 yards per carry, tying Henderson for a rushing score of 3. No more weapons were needed for this loaded Buckeye attack, but Williams developed into one.

Tommy Eichenberg, Ohio LB: Eichenberg is playing like a man possessed. In four games, Eichenberg amassed 33 tackles, five tackles and two sacks. With that, he’s on pace to break his 2021 season totals, and Eichenberg had a dominating performance against Wisconsin, where he had 14 tackles and two in the loss. If he can do that against Badger, he should be anywhere against the Scarlet Knights.

Christian Izien, Rutgers DB: Rutgers’ offense hasn’t been very successful, but their defense has performed admirably. Igien is a big reason for that, as he has a team-leading 33 tackles, as well as 2.5 tackles in losses and 1.5 sacks. As the Buckeyes offense has been moving the ball lately, Ijien should be a busy man on Saturday.

Ohio vs Rutgers Prediction

Odds by Caesars Sportsbook

With Ohio State being the 40.5 point favorite, it’s no surprise that Stunner’s odds are so low this weekend. The Buckeyes are finding their groove on the offense, and first-year coordinator Jim Knowles is improving his defensive play. The Scarlet Knights are overwhelmed from top to bottom, but can you keep them within 40 points? I doubt it. Ohio State had a solid defense and he scored 52 points, but I doubt Rutgers is scoring enough to cover this spread. Forecast: Ohio -40.5
