Prescription for Cancer Prevention: NWH Center for Healthy Living Classes

Mount Kisco, NY – There are few places that will take better care of you when you are sick or injured than Northern Westchester Hospital, but the hospital’s free Healthy Living Center may help prevent you from needing this care.

From Northern Westchester Hospital:

The North Westchester Hospital (NWH) Center for Healthy Living will feature an online Women’s Health cooking class focused on reducing the risk of cancer, specifically gynecological cancers such as those of the cervix, ovaries, uterus, vagina and vulva. Giselka David West, MD, a gynecological oncologist in the Cancer Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital, will discuss the latest evidence-based guidelines that reduce the risk of gynecological cancer. It will share proactive steps you can take as well as risk factors and treatment options. She will be joined by registered dietitian, Jackie Horn, who will discuss plant-based eating and its relationship to reducing cancer risk and show you some recipes.

Other classes offered this month will include in-person instructions on CPR, virtual chair yoga classes, smoking cessation and a webinar for recruiting adult NWH volunteers. These classes help support the community for the benefit of people’s mental and physical health. All software is free unless stated otherwise.

Located adjacent to the Whole Foods Market in Chappaqua Crossing, the Healthy Living Center provides the community with youth wellness and engagement programs. The center’s interactive virtual lectures and pop-up events allow the community to reach wellness goals, make informed health decisions, and seek opportunities for engagement and service. A full list of upcoming free events and registration can be found here.
